How to Get Your Oklahoma Real Estate License

To begin a career in real estate in Oklahoma, you must first receive a provisional sales associate license (PSA). Then, before becoming a fully licensed sales associate, undergo post-licensing education under the supervision of your brokerage. You must also complete 90 hours of introductory instruction, a background check, evidence of citizenship, a license application, and pass the test. 1. Comply with Oklahoma’s Legal Requirements for a Real Estate License

In comparison to other states, the legal requirements for obtaining an Oklahoma real estate license are standard. You must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to provide evidence of U.S. citizenship or legally admitted immigrant status. 3. Complete Fingerprinting & Background Check

Because fingerprints and a background check are required for your Oklahoma real estate license application, you should schedule them as soon as you complete your prelicensing course. In-state and out-of-state applicants may use IdentoGO to have their fingerprints taken. You’ll be asked to register with a service code of 2B7NR3 and pay the $60 cost through credit or debit card immediately on the website.

Because the OREC does not have access to your report until you submit an application, it’s critical that you complete both activities at the same time. IdentoGO will submit your background check to the commission in around 72 hours.

4. Obtain an Oklahoma real estate license.

While your fingerprints are being processed, you should get started on your PSA license application so that they may both be completed at the same time. This may be done by establishing an account on the OREC website and submitting the materials requested in the Applicant Checklist:

  • $100 fee
  • Proof that you have completed your pre-licensing schooling
  • Fingerprints and a background check are required.
  • Proof of nationality

Within five days, the OREC will examine and approve your application, and you will be notified by email. If any paperwork is missing, they will contact you through email to request further papers.

5. Take the real estate exam in Oklahoma.

It’s time to take your test when you’ve completed all of the needed paperwork. The Oklahoma real estate licensing test has a pass rate of about 55%, which is lower than other states. The exam is taken on a computer, and the results are provided immediately once the exam is completed. You will only be granted a passing grade if you pass. If you don’t pass, you’ll be given a numerical score as well as a diagnostic analysis of your strengths and shortcomings by category.

Fortunately, if you don’t pass the test, you may reschedule it right away, and there’s no limit on how many times you can take it. Although applications are only valid for one year, if you do not submit a passing score within that time, you will need to submit a new application and background check to the OREC.

The OREC will send you an automatic email after your application has been accepted. It contains your Candidate ID number, which you will need to register for the test with PSI, a nationwide supplier of state licensing examinations.

6. Decide the company you want to work for.

You must locate a sponsoring brokerage to affiliate your Oklahoma real estate license in order to keep it valid. You may apply for License Issuance using the Application Portal after you’ve completed your test, or your brokerage can submit the Issuance for Real Estate License Form to activate your license with their business.
